When you’re looking for basic cover but Third Party insurance doesn’t give you the peace of mind you need, Third Party Fire and Theft protection for your car may be a suitable alternative to consider alongside comprehensive policies.
Third Party Fire and Theft car insurance offers the next level of cover up from Third Party car insurance. It protects against the costs of any damage or injury you cause to another person, their vehicle or their property – with added cover if your car is stolen or damaged by fire.
If you’re involved in a road accident, Third Party, Fire and Theft insurance will pay to repair a third party’s car or property, but it won’t cover the costs of damage to your own car. It will also cover injuries to any passengers involved in the accident, but not injuries to yourself.
Third Party Fire and Theft insures you against:
Third Party Fire and Theft insurance will pay to repair the damage to your vehicle, replace what is lost or damaged beyond reasonable repair, or will pay cash for the amount of loss or damage caused by fire or theft. The most we will pay is the market value of your car, accessories or spare parts at the time of damage.
You can also add the option of legal protection to Saga’s Third Party Fire and Theft car insurance:

Third Party Fire and Theft doesn’t pay for:
If you’re looking for protection against damages to yourself and to your car as well, you should look at Saga’s Comprehensive car insurance cover.
There is a legal minimum requirement to have Third Party insurance to drive your vehicle on the UK’s roads. Find out more on the government website at gov.uk.
For better peace of mind you may choose to add Fire and Theft cover to your Third Party insurance to give some protection against fire damage and theft of your own car.
As well as Third Party Fire and Theft, you might consider fully Comprehensive insurance

You can get a Protected No Claim Discount (NCD) with Saga car insurance policies. If you have four or more years’ NCD, we’ll protect it against two fault claims in a three-year period.
As with all car insurance policies, one factor affecting the price you pay is the likelihood of you making a claim. With Third Party, Fire and Theft there’s a higher level of claims historically, and so policies can work out more expensive than comprehensive policies.
Third Party Fire and Theft insurance also doesn’t include the type of additional benefits that comprehensive policies often include, such an uninsured driver cover, guaranteed replacement car cover and windscreen cover, among others.
Third Party Fire and Theft covers third party damage, fire and theft. It covers damage to other people’s cars, passengers and property, but it doesn’t cover damage to your own car in an accident.
Also, Third Party Fire and Theft doesn’t cover windscreen damage or vandalism as standard, if you would like to find out more and find the best policy for you, find out more with Saga’s guide to car insurance.
